Grad Talk: Heat Flow in Layered Structures: A Condensed Matter Perspective

Irradiating a semiconductor structure with an ultrafast laser pulse creates an extremely hot system of carriers which is very far from equilibrium. The system will eventually lose energy and cool down to ambient temperature. In this talk, we will follow the system through various stages between a highly disordered state to an equilibrium state.
