Physics Open House
Come one and all! Physics Open House will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 1 to 5pm. Everyone will be meeting at the Physics entrance facing Gould- Simpson, or next to room 218. The department is open for lab tours and DIY physics projects from 1 to 4 pm, followed by a public lecture (Room 201) from 4 to 5 pm. Prof. Sam Gralla (pictured) will give the lecture on “Black Holes, Gravity Waves and Interstellar,” covering the most dramatic physics discovery of 2016. Lab tours on “Seeing a single atom thick” and “Seeing 50,000 years into the past” will run continuously from 1 to 4 pm. In parallel, we will have guided hands-on physics projects for kids and families using materials found around the home: Wire-spool motor, cloud-in-a-jar, homemade lava lamp, and many more!
