Abstract: It is often claimed by many physicists that general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics are incompatible. Often a claim is made that since gravity is non-renormalizable, it is impossible to make predictions out of quantum gravity. Alas such people have not heard of the gospel of Effective Field Theory. I am going to explain why the conventional view of renormalizability is incomplete. We will learn how to be realistic about our expectations from any physical theory, how to make sense of quantum field theories as effective field theories and most importantly how to quantize gravity! We are actually going to see quantum mechanical corrections to Newton’s Law of gravity. It turns out real quantum gravity was with us all along!
