Abstract: Come learn about how flawless communication is achieved over long distances using lasers and the quantum limit imposed on the speed of error-free communication as I talk about a summer project where I looked for the quantum measurement achieving the highest data rate for a receiver decoding coherent light signals modulated by a symmetric binary alphabet.
** Refreshments served from 2:45pm – 3:00pm in PAS 218. Please join us for the colloquium in PAS 224. Thank you. **
