There are several sources of advice and guidance available to graduate students. From the faculty side, your research advisor will often be your first point of contact. In addition, faculty mentors are assigned to all incoming students. (If you are a more advanced student and would like to be assigned a mentor, please contact the Director of Graduate Studies (Erich Varnes, varnes@arizona.edu). Students can request a change to their assigned mentor at any time, also by contacting the DGS.
Other graduate students can also be a valuable resource, and each student is assigned an individual Grad Student Mentor. Often graduate students can provide a unique perspective on practical matters that might be hard to get elsewhere.
In addition to these formal resources, all members of the faculty are willing to assist graduate students, and the same holds true for our current graduate students. When in doubt, just ASK!
