LPL COLLOQUIUM: Lunar Seismology: Apollo’s Legacy and the New Artemis Era

Dr. Angela Marusiak Assistant Research Professor, University of Arizona, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory

When

3:45 to 4:45 p.m., April 23, 2024

Where

The first seismometers were placed on the Moon’s surface over 50 years ago by Apollo astronauts. While significant discoveries were made, many scientific questions remain unanswered. In the coming years, the Artemis program will once again send astronauts, and seismometers, to the Moon. In this talk I will discuss what we learned from Apollo, what Artemis can help answer, and LPL’s role in the future of lunar seismology and exploration.
