Physics PHUN Night 2023

Our physics PHUN night made a return!  This is our largest annual physics outreach event.  We had a good crowd show up in our lecture hall PAS 201 on Sunday, November 5, 3:00 pm, for an hour of physics fun. Laboratory Coordinator Kyle Rine did a fantastic job organizing the event, with undergraduate volunteers Adrian Rose, Grace Gibbons, Aaron Miller, Jonathan Van Essen, Katherine Costello, Jascha Gaarder, Isabella Juliette , Elija Walders, Sarah (Quenton) Wride, as well as faculty volunteers Alex Burant and Brian LeRoy.

The physics demonstrations bike wheel, rotating stool, human wire, rocket cart, jumping rings, green lights, hoot tube, fire rocket, and liquid nitrogen attracted the attention of many curious kids and their parents.  The highlight was of course the bed of nails with Brian lying there fearlessly, while Kyle swung a big hammer at the concrete block on his chest.  He survived!

Many thanks to Kyle and all the volunteers!
