Dec. 17, 2024
A group of 8 UA students and 2 faculty members recently returned from a 10 day trip to Hebei, China as part of an exchange program with our joint program with Hebei University of Technology. The students and faculty represented the three departments, Physics, Materials Science & Engineering and Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering that are part of the joint Arizona College of Technology (ACT). On the trip from the Physics department were Brian LeRoy, Brianna Billingsley, Callum Farrell, and Brandon Friend.
During the trip, the group had the opportunity to interact with many of the students and faculty at the ACT including a music performance, playing sports, making dumplings and seeing their college. The group also explored several cities in Hebei province as well as Beijing and Tianjin. Some of the activities include a tour of the Forbidden City, a walk along the Great Wall, karaoke along with river in Tiajin, a mine tour in Tangshan, and an acrobatic performance in Cangzhou.
Overall, it was a packed trip learning about the diverse culture and history of the region around Hebei. It also provided an opportunity to increase the connections between our programs in Tucson and those in Hebei.
