The Department of Physics is pleased to announce that Nikolay Golubev will be joining the department faculty starting August 2022 as an Assistant Professor of physics. Nikolay earned his doctoral degree from Heidelberg University, Germany, and completed his undergraduate work at Lomonosov Moscow State University in Moscow, Russia. He comes to the University of Arizona from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he is an independent postdoctoral researcher sponsored by the Branco Weiss Fellowship - Society in Science. Nikolay's research focuses on developing and applying theory and simulation methods to investigate the ultrafast quantum dynamics in molecules and atomic clusters. He aims to establish interdisciplinary research program that will combine advanced theoretical approaches, efficient computational algorithms, and state-of-the-art high performance computing to study the fundamental physics lying behind the correlated motion of electrons and nuclei. By making this appointment, the Department of Physics is strengthening its leading position in the field of atomic, molecular and optical physics. Dr. Golubev will officially join the faculty in Fall 2022.
