UA Applied Physics Program at HEBUT
The University of Arizona (UA) Physics Department and Hebei University of Technology (HEBUT) in Tianjin, China developed a B.S. dual degree program in Applied Physics that began in 2021 with 58 students. It currently enrolls 203 students and is expected to grow to 400 students by 2026. Together with partner programs in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering, the Arizona College of Technology in HEBUT combines a dedicated, state-of-the-art teaching facility with interdisciplinary research opportunities.
Prof. Alex Burant just returned from our inaugural teaching semester, serving as visiting professor at HEBUT for Phys 240 and Phys 263. Prof. Ajith Rajapaksha will be traveling to HEBUT as a permanent Global Professor in Fall 2023, and the department is conducting active searches to fill two more permanent teaching positions by Fall 2024.
Questions or inquiries may be directed to Prof. Manne (smanne@arizona.edu). We look forward to a long and fruitful collaboration with Hebei University of Technology.
