Abstract: The Mars Sample Return (MSR) Campaign is well on its way with the on-going collection of well documented samples by the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover. The Mars Sample Return Program represents the second element of the MSR Campaign, and it was recently approved to advance from Phase A to Phase B. In this talk, I will discuss the motivation and science objectives for MSR as well as the status of the MSR Campaign, in particular the mission architecture and timeline for the MSR program.
