Title: Bruce Barrett’s scientific achievements and global science impacts

Abstract: Throughout his career, Bruce Barrett was a pioneer in science and science diplomacy. Bruce Barrett’s achievements on the frontiers of nuclear theory are highlighted by his  development of a first principles approach to nuclear structure and nuclear reactions.  This was achieved over decades of hard work and is considered by many to represent a gold standard in nuclear theory today.  On the diplomatic front, Bruce Barrett was a world leader in promoting a vigorous program in international exchange of scientists.  His efforts spanned the continents and led to many new successful collaborations and conferences.  He mentored numerous students and postdocs from around the world into successful scientific careers. They constitute another major dimension to Bruce Barrett's lasting legacy.

Title: Bruce’s spiritual impacts on emerging concepts of atomic nuclei

Abstract: I have known Prof. Bruce Barrett for half a century from my graduate student time. He has always been very encouraging and gentle to us.  I will present an example for which he helped us by giving crucial spiritual support.  With that, this work got published, leading  to wide and deep developments.  I will exhibit some of such developments, which superseded half-a-century-long traditional pictures of shapes and movements of atomic nuclei, with new perspectives.
