Colin Murphy Received Physics Department Outstanding Senior Award

The Department of Physics congratulates Colin Murphy, our Fall 2024 Outstanding Senior. Colin has been heavily engaged with physics research with Prof. Arvinder Sandhu on attoseconds ultrafast laser pulses.  His research included setting up a gas-filled hollow-core fiber for femtosecond pulse compression, gaining valuable insight into the physics behind the propagation of ultrafast pulses. Additionally, Colin conducted simulations for nonlinear spectral broadening and is a co-author on a recently submitted paper.

Throughout his undergraduate studies, Colin has dedicated significant time to assisting students in introductory physics courses, serving as both a preceptor and a Supplemental Instruction leader. He finds the same joy in aiding others in learning physics as he finds in learning it himself.
