Physics Peer Mentorship
The Physics Peer Mentorship Group, created and led by undergraduate student Olivia Culbert, began as a student-driven effort to support fellow students navigating the University of Arizona. Recognizing an unmet need, Olivia set out to offer the kind of guidance she once sought as a transfer student. By connecting new and continuing students through shared experiences, her initiative showcases the potential of student‑led support networks and helps bring visibility to campus resources that often go unnoticed until students need them.
"I started the Physics Peer Mentorship Program because I wanted to mentor a transfer student like myself, but there was no program available for me to do so. I am motivated to expose new students to campus resources that lack visibility. There are so many resources that students learn about after the fact that would have helped them gain more experiences or allowed their time at UofA to be less stressful. Simply put, I want to help students learn from the mistakes that I've made in regard to not using campus resources to their full potential." - Olivia Culbert
The most recent mentorship session was held on Friday, January 30th from 2–3 PM, offering students an opportunity to connect, share experiences, and start the semester with a sense of support.
