Spring 2025 College of Science Awards

A ceremony for the Spring 2025 College of Science Undergraduate Awards was held on Friday, the 8th of May. These awards recognize outstanding undergraduates from each department in the College of Science. Awards are given in two categories: Outstanding Senior and Excellence in Undergraduate Research. Please join us in congratulating this year's Department of Physics award winners.
Megan Harrison, Physics, Excellence in Undergraduate Research
Megan is a double major in astronomy and physics. She has worked on independent research projects in both departments. In the Department of Physics, she has been with Dr. Rutherford and the High Energy Physics Group. In Astronomy, Megan has been a member of Dr. Shirley's research group.
Brandon Friend, Physics, Outstanding Senior
Brandon has been a shining star in the Physics Department. Through his exemplary classwork, outstanding research, and participation in physics outreach, Brandon has set himself apart from his peers. Dr. Fleming remarks about Brandon, "This level of competency,
mastery and confidence is something I would expect of a seasoned graduate student."
Eason Wang, Astronomy, Excellence in Undergraduate Research
Eason Wang is Astronomy's winner for the Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award. Eason is a double major in Astronomy and Physics. He is interested in computational cosmology and is currently working on measuring Kinematic Lensing using data from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument.
